The Club Maui was featured in this great article from Maui News. The article tells the story of how Danny and Whitney got started with The Club Maui, as well as the opening of the new Kahului location.
The former site of national chain 24 Hour Fitness in Kahului is being transformed into a family-operated gym called The Club Maui.
Danny Crowell and Whitney Correa of Kahului own and operate the newly renovated 15,000-square-foot gym.
“We have come a long, long way and just feel completely overwhelmed and blessed for this new opportunity. Being that we are locally owned and not backed by a corporation, it’s hard for small businesses to survive with the high cost of living, not just for homes but commercial spaces as well here on Maui.”
“We had a vision of providing Maui with a premier fitness center,” Correa said. “We wanted to offer Maui something it had never seen before and that’s how The Club Maui started [in 2017].”
The first two clubs are in Kahana Gateway Center and Outlets of Maui, both on the west side, with about 1,000 members combined.
“We are a hands-on ‘ohana and are very involved with our business,” Correa said. “Even if we have to bring the whole family in to work, which happens often, we have thrived by being present and connecting with our members and guests.”
